SYNOPSIS
The Delacourt Affair is a taut psychological spy thriller, where fact and fiction intertwine and where the past returns to plague Annie Delacourt’s present and haunt her future.

Annie was having a one night stand with Charlie, her husband’s colleague but she can’t or won’t say that she was. In fact she claims she can’t remember exactly where she was.
Through James’ steady interrogation we learn of Annie’s family’s horrific past – her grandfather was Estonia’s own version of Himmler, murdering thousands for the Nazis and then for the Russians.
We also learn of Patrick’s brilliance in creating computer software that can identify human emotions – affective computing – one of the holy grails of the technology world. Patrick had gone to work for the Estonians, partly to expiate Annie’s family’s guilt. So Annie is convinced that the Estonian Secret Service is involved in Patrick’s murder. James doesn't believe her.
As the police close in on her, Annie is becoming increasingly desperate as she realises they are not looking for anyone else. Her memory is slowly returning. But everyone, including James, sees her claims of darker forces at work as the fantasy of an unravelling mind. Annie must force James to take her to find her lover Charlie, to prove to the police where she was on the night of the murder.
But Charlie is missing, then found dead in an apparent suicide. He has left a note confessing to Patrick’s murder. The police are forced to let Annie go, but she knows Charlie did not kill Patrick.
Now she must travel to Estonia in search of answers. She is convinced she knows who killed both men. And she wants revenge.
